According to the Bible the main purpose of man is to glorify God. Isaiah 43:7 says "Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have created them for my glory. It was I who created them." God created man for His glory therefore we worship Him.

Because we are humans, we are worshippers, we are rejoicers. Rejoice means to feel or show great joy or delight. It's what we do, every single person, in everything whether we realize it or not. We have identified something larger than ourselves that's worth our time, money, and heart; it comes easily and naturally.

Romans 1:21-23 says "Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, everliving God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles."

In our sinfulness we tend to worship things other than God; we put Him second. This is a total recipe for disappointment. The only thing it offers is temporary happiness and satisfaction. When we give temporary things authority over us we get temporary results. Despair and emptiness overtake us and we lose sight of the works God is building up in our lives. There is only one true place to look for happiness and that is God-- the One who created us and everything we have. The problem is not that we worship, it's that we are worshiping wrongly (the wrong things). We worship the creation and not the creator; we worship the things God made rather than Him.

In life, dreams and goals, beauty, money, possessions, jobs, etc., can be made our main focus in life. we invent these things into "gods." We choose to worship them and give them glory that belongs to God. We give these things so much power in our life and it eventually leads to disappointment. This is because we lose sight of where these things essentially come from and that is our Creator. The money, blessings, opportunities, and jobs are not given to us for us to serve them; God puts us in certain places and gives us certain things for it to serve us while He gets all the glory. We can never enjoy the gifts of God if they becomes "the god" in our lives.

When you are blessed with different things, choose to worship Him, thank Him, give Him all the praise because afterall, He is the one who placed them so carefully in your life. He is the Creator of all things, hand the power back over. He creates blessings, opportunities, jobs, whatever it might be in your life, for our joy and His glory!

When you feel as if your worshiping the creator, ask yourself.. "Can anything else make me right before God? Can money? Can a job? Can beauty? Can talents?" The next time you are blessed with something make the first thing that comes out your mouth "Thank you Jesus!" and watch the joy it will bring in your life. Enter in His presence with life and He will enter your life with power. Make your relationship so deep with Him that anything we do results in giving glory to God. That any recognition we receive will result in God getting praise because like James 1:17 says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above."

Glorify God because it's our purpose and His work.

ask yourself:

Am I worshiping the creator or the creation?
